Dear Friends,I recently sent information regarding Wanda "Jeannie" Wadle and the fact that her murderer, Jonathan Bruce Reed, could be released if action is not taken soon. Here is an update from Joanne, Jeannie's sister. The case is now in the office of the Attorney General for review. Below is the personal website of Greg Abbott, our Texas State Attorney General. Mr. Abbott is a Duncanville High School graduate. Jeannie and her two sisters, Joanne Wadle Hix and Linda Gail Wadle also are Duncanville graduates. Jeannie's family is in hopes that as many concerned friends and citizens as possible would contact Greg Abbott's office with their pleas to prevent Reed's release. Reed was given a fair trial twice and found guilty. Enough evidence was presented at both trials to sentence him to death row. Now because of a bogus appeal, he could walk. If you read the article in the news, Reed declares that his rights were violated in jury selection by not selecting a black juror. Reed is white. Reed claims that in the 60's, courts were instructed not to select minorities because "they almost always sided with the accused". He states this so called, "right to relief" was denied him which therefore sets a new precedent in this case resulting in Reed's appeal being reviewed. It is urgent that we petition the Attorney General's office on behalf of Jeannie and her roommate , Kimberly Pursley, who was also attacked but survived. We are in hopes that the outpouring of calls and e-mails to the Attorney General's office declaring outrage at the possibility of Reed's release, could very well prove to be key in halting this decision. If this request is denied in the Attorney General's office and continues to the Dallas District Courts, the likelihood of his release greatly increases. These two families have suffered enough and the possibility of Reed being set free could be devastating. Please continue to pray God will intervene and justice will prevail. If you would please contact the office below in support of this cause at the request of these two families, your help will be greatly appreciated :greg.abbott@oag.state.tx.usPhone:1-512-463-2100 & 1-800-621-0508By Mail: Office of the Attorney General P. Dear Friends,Below is an e-mail from Joanne with the latest update concerning her sister Jeannie Wadle . Please continue with the e-mails and phone calls to Greg Abbott's office requesting that Reed's appeal be denied. The family of Wanda Jean and Kimberly Pursley greatly appreciate your help.I talked with Gail this afternoon after her conversations with the DA The 3 out of 9 judges on the New Orleans 5th Circuit Court of Appeals looked at the evidence presented and the 3 judges made the decision to accept Reed's appeal. The Appellant DA working the case here in Dallas doesn't seem to think it will make a difference if we asked all the judges to review the evidence. The outcome would be the same.Per the Appeallate DA the case is still in Austin and probably won't be transferred to Dallas before June. She is arranging a meeting for Gail and I to meet with Craig Watkins , the District Attorney here in Dallas, within the next 3 weeks. He wants to review the evidence prior to our meeting. Once we talk with him, I'll let you know if we need to inundate him with emails / phone calls to Dallas. This is a new DA who is very interested in public opinion. The Appeallate DA will then turn over the case to the local DA for trial.Wow - even as I write this email and anticipate the forthcoming meetings and months of trial preparation, I get nauseous, my heart races and my mind screams "I don't want to do this." But knowing that if he receives a lessor penalty that others will be recipients of his vengence. You have given me the love and strength I need through your prayers and emails. I know I must do this. As the psychologist testified in the first trial, his cruel mind is so past the stage of rehabilitation that to satisfy his lusts, he must seek blood. I understand his cell mates and the wardens in Huntsville can testify to this even now (which we will use as more evidence). The Appeallate DA says if we go back to court a third time, this will be the last and we will seek immediate death for him. It will not "slip through the cracks." What a way to verbalize it.Anyway, that's the status as of today. Thanks for all you do in helping us. You are the best of friends.Joanne
